By law, each Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) must be governed by a Board of Directors, appointed by the Chief Local Elected Officials, who is responsible to set policy for, allocate funds to, and guide the development of the local workforce development system. The Cattaraugus-Allegany Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (WIB) is the not-for-profit corporation established to meet those responsbilities. Board members are representatives of private sector businesses, education, organized labor, government, employment & training, economic development and community-based organizations. To assist in carrying out their responsibilities, the Board employs an office staff consisting of an Executive Director, Fiscal & Program Monitor and Administrative Assistant.

The WIB is primarily funded by a State allocation of federal WIA funds. In turn, the WIB provides WIA funding to operate the two One Stop Career Centers in our area, however, Partner agencies may provide additional services and training funds based upon customer eligibility. As a 501(c)(3) corporation, the WIB is also eligible to apply for additional grants other than WIA funding in order to bring additional resources into the area and expand the scope of services to our community.
