Cattaraugus-Allegany Workforce NY is the workforce development system that serves the community of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties and is comprised of three major components – the Cattaraugus-Allegany Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (WIB), the One Stop Career Centers, and our Partner agencies. All three components work together to provide employment and training services to individual and business customers within our local area.Workforce development systems were enacted by the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) legislation to provide assistance to job seekers and businesses using WIA and other federal funds. WIA requires that each Local Workforce Investment Area must be governed by a Board of Directors comprised of no less than 51% business sector members and must have a business sector Chair. The Board’s main responsibility is to set policy for the expenditure of public funds to provide services, which are delivery through the One Stop Career Centers. In addition, WIA requires that certain other federally-funded programs are mandated to participate in the One Stop delivery system as our Partner agencies in order to provide a seamless system of services to our customers. By visiting a One Stop Center, you have access to more than just the WIA program but to all programs that our Partners offer as well. This local workforce development service delivery system is directly accountable to the local WIB for its performance.
